Past, Present and Future Evolution of Technology

These days, tablets, computers and Smartphones run our lives, but in a short time, the market has exploded with technology more than most people can imagine and to the point that they cannot imagine being without it. To understand the evolution of this technology from the dark ages to today, you should began with understanding how it evolved. Technology was born out of a purpose. An example would be in the creation of search engines, which are used to sift through all the massive quantity of online data.
As upgrades are made to technology, it combines with the present technology and creates a better technology that it was before. As this continues to happen, technology evolves to the point that it is an essential thing to have. Present technology continues to evolve into being even greater and more powerful. As fast as technology has evolved, many people have to struggle to keep up. Below is a short overview showing you how fast technology and the internet have evolved in recent years.
The Past: Back in the 1990s, the internet was something new that most, but not all, businesses and households had. If you were living at that time, chances are high that you remember the sound of the extremely slow dial up signal that would connect you to the internet. Technology began to take off when more people discovered value in the internet, especially when access eliminated the need for a phone line. With the advancement of webpages, most people had either a Tripod or Geocities webpage.
It was during this time, blogging started on the consumer level making sharing information much easier. Rather than using a floppy disc or CD-ROM, people started using either email or a USB drive to store and share large files. As more new technologies began to pop-up, they would combine to form a faster, stronger and better technology. With every new technology and internet development, people's lives, were changed, as well as the way they work and operate.
The Present: Since those early days of dial up, there are very few places you cannot find the internet. Rare are the days now that Wi-Fi internet cannot be found at the library, coffee shop or place of business. Even if you cannot find a Wi-Fi signal close enough, many people still can access the internet with their cell phone or Smartphone. Because of the anytime/anywhere internet access, most businesses have created for their customers, web applications, or apps, that will answer most common needs. Consumers can use these apps to do everything from keeping track of food portions to sending large amounts of information with just the click of a button. One difference that is most noticeable with today's internet is its ability to be personable in a very impersonal setting, while improving the way people engage with each other online.
Even though the internet is superficial, it is a form of communication that has helped to keep people closer when they may have lost contact otherwise. You can even have face to face conversations via video/web conferencing, which bridges the geographic barriers. Businesses can also communicate with customers on a more human level and without the need for long distance travel, they can communicate face to face with people even on the other side of the world. Due to all the new technologies people use to access the internet, each other and information, the future looks promising for more technological developments.
The Future: With every present technology that is bound together, they are developed into other technologies that are even greater for the future use of both businesses and consumers alike. Future technology will undoubtedly be able to accomplish more, be even faster and will make work easier. Tablets, Smartphones and other smart devices will keep on evolving to work better together.
These devices will be able to automatically share information and limit the need for human involvement. Rather than store everything on a single device or online, most companies and people will put their companies on the cloud. Not only will this give a huge potential to change how companies do business, it will also change the traditional way an office looks as well as the way people and businesses interact.

The Past, Present and Future of Technology's Evolution

In today's world, computers, tablets and Smartphones run our lives. In a short amount of time, the explosion of technology in the market has many people never imagining their lives without it. In order to understand how we came from the dark ages to where we are today, we should first understand the evolution of technology. Most of today's technologies were born out of purpose. Search engines are a good example, they were created to sort out the huge amounts of online data. Every new upgrade of a technology creates something that was better than before.
Every time this happens, technology evolves and has become the thing that is essential today. Future new technologies come from ideas that get compounded to form new technologies. Technologies that exist today evolve into more powerful technologies that they were before. With the speed at which technology is evolving, it is no wonder why people are struggling to keep up. The following is an overview of how fast technology and the internet have evolved in just the past few years.
The Past
As recent as the 1990s, the internet was a new commodity that some businesses and homes had. People at that time remember the painfully slow sound of the dial-up signal as it connected to the internet. As more people saw the value of having internet access, technology once again stepped up to eliminate the use of a phone line to access the internet with an even faster way to connect to the World Wide Web. This advance also caused websites to advance and suddenly everyone had either a Tripod or Geocities website all of their own.
About this time, the blogging craze took off on the consumer level. This allowed the sharing of information to become much easier. Rather than handing over a floppy disc or CD-ROM, more people started to email documents or store larger files on a USB drive. With the advance of new technologies popping up, they would compound and form a stronger, faster and better technology. As this technology developed, it changed the way people operated, worked and coincidentally live today.
The Present
Since the 1990s, internet access has popped up nearly everywhere. It is rare to find a place of business, library, or coffee shop without access to a Wi-Fi signal. Even without a Wi-Fi signal in close range, most people can still access the internet with their cellular device or Smartphone. Because of this anytime/anywhere internet access, many businesses have created web apps that will answer the consumer's common needs. These apps or applications will do everything from sending huge amounts of information to tracking food portions with just the click of a button. One of the differences that is most noticeable with today's internet is the ability to be personable in such an impersonal setting. It has been social media that has changed the way people engage with each other online.
Even though this form of communication is superficial, it has helped people remain close that may otherwise would have lost contact all together. Even face to face conversations are becoming easier because of web/video conferencing that has broken the barriers of geography. Now, businesses can communicate with customers in more of a human manner, people can have a face to face conversation without having to travel across the country, and people can reach out to others across the world in an easier and faster manner. With all the new technologies influencing how people access each other and information, the future looks promising.
The Future
Technology will allow work to be accomplished faster and easier, internet access will become faster and more streamlined. Devices like tablets and Smartphones will keep evolving to work together better.
Data between these machines will be shared automatically, which will limit the need for human involvement. More and more businesses and people will put themselves in the cloud or have everything stored online rather than on a single device. This will allow an enormous potential to change how business is done, how the traditional office will look and how companies and people will interact with each other on a daily basis. As technology continues to evolve, the world will change with it and create new ways of working together and new habits.

Beware - Read This Before Getting An "Accredited" Online Social Science Degree

It's very important you read this before choosing any online social science degree program or school. The information I am about to give you here will help you make the right choice, no matter what kind of online degree or course you are contemplating on acquiring. I'm about to reveal to you very important points you need to take into consideration before selecting either an online social science degree program or online social science degree institution. It amazes me how so many students end up enrolling with the wrong institutions online. Any decision concerning your education should not be embarked upon without first getting the right information.
Earning an online social science degree has many advantages. An online student can benefit from the flexibility and convenience of the learning environment provided by an online social science degree program. An online social science degree can further your career aspirations. However, choosing a program can be a confusing process. One way of identifying a suitable program is to list your goals and then go through the listed programs carefully to see which one meets your compiled list best.
There are different types of online social science degrees. You can earn an online associate's degree, bachelors or masters degree or even acquire a course completion certification diploma. To earn an accredited masters degree online, you must possess a bachelors degree from a regular or online institution. To earn an accredited online bachelors degree, you need to have at least a high school diploma or G.E.D.
Whether you are seeking online associates, bachelors, masters, or PhD degree in business, technology, health care, or education, online degree colleges in the US will not disappoint you. There are many excellent institutions to choose from. It's up to you to decide which one you want. You can earn a recognized online social science degree from an accredited online college without having to relocate to where the school is located. As long as the online college degrees are from an accredited organization there is no depreciation in their value. Get your accredited online college degrees. Acceptance of online college degrees from all accredited institutions is definitely on the rise.
It is more cost effective pursuing your degree online as you can cut off many expenses such as traveling or transportation cost and other college expenses since you can attend the classes online from home. In additional, many college books are in electronic format which you can view or download from the online school learning system. This saves you the expenses in buying the text book. Besides that, the tuition fee for online social science degree programs is cheaper and you can complete your degree in a much shorter time.
Flexibility to fit into one's busy schedule is one of the major advantages offered by an online social science degree. If you are someone who is looking to enhance your knowledge and get an extra degree that is related to your career field, but you don't intend to put on-hold your current job just to meet the purpose; then, an online social science degree offers a perfect solution. Nowadays, online social science degree programs cover almost every subject offered by traditional "brick & mortar" social science degree program, colleges/universities. You can choose one that meets your needs and fits into your busy schedule.
Sometimes, prior college credits or related work experience can shorten the amount of time it takes to complete your degree program. Generally, it usually takes about three years to complete an accredited online social science degree (This may vary in some instances). This time frame is based on a curriculum of at least twenty hours of course work a week.
Now, while there are lots of benefits attached to earning degrees online, there are also very important things to consider. Several cases were recently published of individuals falling prey to unaccredited online institutions, awarding hoax online social science degrees. There is a sham associated with the online social science degree programs offered by some online institutes. Lately a large number of cases have been reported online in which individuals after earning their desired life experience degree found out that their degrees were not accredited according to law. Imagine what would happen if you later discovered that the degree you used in applying for a job, is a "fake degree". It's even worse if it were discovered by your potential employer.
It would be better for you to put some effort into trying to ensure that the degree you are pursuing is from a reputable online university. It's important you are getting a real degree. An online university which has gone through a proper accreditation process is what you need and deserve. An accredited online social science degree is a college degree that is received through Internet studies offered by an accredited college or institution. This means that the school or university that is offering the degree has been approved by a national or state board of education.
In order to offer an accredited online social science degree a college must offer its course work and lesson requirements to the board of education for approval. The board then goes through the course work and makes sure that it adheres to the industry standards for completion.
There are many universities offering different highly accredited online social science degree programs. Doing some research of the official websites of the many universities, colleges, and schools offering online social science degree courses might be particularly helpful to see which institution and program suit your time and work schedule. It is also important to ensure that the university program and the university itself is accredited and recognized by the industry. Taking the time to do such a research work can be time consuming.
But do you know there's a, not so publicized FREE online service that keeps and updates an award winning database of accredited online institutions? Do you know that this same service does all this at no cost to degree seeking students? I and my fellow education counseling colleagues were pleasantly surprised when we discovered this silent but highly effective service. It's has been the N0.1 service we have recommended to prospective students during our counseling sessions. I will reveal the website address of this unique service, which offers for FREE, what others are charging prospective students for.
Other unique aspects of their service which impressed us include; the fact that they help you:
* Take the guesswork out of choosing from hundreds of online schools and thousands of degree options.
* They show you the Top online schools, and match you with the one that's best for you.
* They match you with the best schools available (and we literally mean that.). It's truly amazing the way they do this.
* They give you the best chance of academic success based on your unique requirements through a unique degree choice and degree school matching system.
* They also help you answer any questions you can think of regarding getting your degree.
* They help you research careers by industry. They also give you information about programs by your area of interest and inform you about today's fastest growing and most lucrative careers.
* They help you discover your personality type and what careers are best suited for you.
* They show you how much you could be worth if you get a degree.
* They simply do all the work for you! And at no cost too!
I never knew such a free service could turn out being the best service. But, I guess they do not want to be swarmed by too many requests, which explains why they rarely announce their existence. I just feel it's a service the lucky ones among you who will read this article should benefit from. You shouldn't have to always pay before you receive great service.
I sincerely hope they will be able to keep this service free for a long time because of information reaching us that they might have to start charging a small fee to cover their cost. Anyway, if you are reading this right now, they are still available to you.
Simply visit their website, fill their complete form and apply for their Free degree and online schools matching service. It will save you the headache of choosing the wrong school or degree program. Filling out their profile form is fast and easy. Just let them do all the work for you.
Today more than ever, it is important that you ensure that your institution of higher learning - whether online or campus-based - is accredited. It can mean the difference between continuing your education, and having to start all over. By checking your school's accreditation up front, you will avoid finding out later that your credits may not transfer to another institution, or that your employer does not recognize your degree. This service checks this out for you at no cost too.
In summary, earning a degree online is a good option for people who are planning for career promotion or education advancement. The advantages of an online social science degree program in terms of flexibility of learning schedule and convenient of study from home enables you to plan your study to fit your busy working schedule. Getting a degree from a reputable online university will make it easy for you when entering the job market after graduation. You need to ensure you are getting a degree from the best university so that your degree will make your resume look good and attract the maximum attention in your job application. Wishing you well in your educational pursuits.

How to Teach Ethics Education

The quality of life depends on the quality of who you are. What you actually become. It all boils down to how morally good and ethical a person is. So the question is how do we make every one become a good moral person? Since ancient times we recognize the importance of teaching moral values. We teach it the same way we teach math and science by providing the knowledge of good and bad. One very important factor that the world of education has still not completely woken up to, in spite of all these thousands of years of research, is that as there are two kinds of intelligences - regular and emotional - both require a different set of rules for education. Emotional intelligence education alters the actual physical infrastructure of the brain. Emotional intelligence education starts from the womb. And continues through hugs and kisses and a nurturing childhood environment. By the time the child is 6 years old the moral character traits are well set for the rest of the person's life.
So to really insure moral education we must learn how to educate the individual at the fetus and the child stage. Thus we must put together templates and manuals for future parents, current pregnant ones and those with little kids.
Please consider the following:
There was a king who was very troubled because his people were very poor. He did not know what to do. He heard of this kingdom where people were very prosperous and lived in mansions and even marble palaces. So he went to the king of this place and asked him how they were able to live like this. The king told him that it was very simple he just passed a building code which everyone in his kingdom had to follow. So our king came back and passed a law that everyone must build a marble palace!
Now in his kingdom most could afford a straw hut, others could afford a log cabin. Still others could afford a cement mansion and a few could afford a marble palace. So the kings law went into effect and nothing changed. Just a few marble palaces came up. Except for the select few the rest were incapable of building marble palaces.
It is the same when it comes to morality. We have moral laws and we expect everyone to follow them. We spend billions of dollars on crime prevention and containment yet nothing changes.
The only way to change and reduce crime is by changing the physical quality of the brain that generates the moral compass of the individual. Thus ethics education means not just telling people what is good and what is bad. It is about creating the right moral infrastructure generating brain.
The brain has four basic levels as follows:
1) Premature brain - (I have quantified it as -2) Those stuck on this level have the moral values of a snake. In their mind they are everything and everyone else is nothing. They are above the law and everyone else is below the law. No amount of moral education is going to change them. Punishment is the only deterrence and even this they often ignore. Their physically brain is too far morally gone.
2) Immature brain - (I have quantified it as -1). Those stuck on this level are corrupt. In their mind they deserve the best, by hook or by crook. Current ethics education will not change them much as their moral values are generated by an entrenched selfishness producing brain infrastructure. We have to wake up to the fact that we will have to change this brain infrastructure.
3) Mature brain - (I have quantified it as +1). Those stuck at this level are driven by a trophy self image as in 'I am the best'. This is the group that is the easiest to change. But not by the current way of moral education which practically amounts to pleading with people to do good. The trophy self image will have to be gotten rid of and replaced with a selfless self.
4) Super mature brain - (I have quantified it as +2). The brain at this developed level already generates a selfless self so moral education is not required for this group.
Just like a man with the resources of building a log cabin cannot become a marble palace owner; a man with a -2, -1. or even +1 brain can ever become morally +2. No amount of current ethics education can make a -2 brain generate a +2 brain power. The only way real moral values can take root is by making the brain +2. And this requires brain therapy more than anything else. It requires brain changing education. The sooner we wake up to this the faster we will create a morally healthy society. Current moral education amounts to like our local pastor telling us to live virtuous lives. We hear it and applaud it and then go back to our old ways.
Notice how without exception all books on self help talk of '7/9 steps. There is just one goal/step as far as self help is concerned - become wise. Thus ethics education is more like self transformation education. It is more precisely about making ones self +2! It is more in line with self help education. Then again not like the current self help education. My main field of work is wisdom. And as philosophy is considered the love of wisdom which means one of the main goals of philosophy is to try to find out what is wisdom. Most experts on wisdom are still stuck where they define wisdom by its attributes and are still struggling to define wisdom.
As the wisdom potential is there in every brain just like blood and as absence of wisdom means presence of ignorance (where actually there is a mixture of the two) so every life is affected by lack of wisdom, from individual to group to country, so the stakes are very high. In fact much of the present mess in the world today from the economic crisis to the problems of war can all be traced to lack of wisdom. So if I can wake up main stream education/science to the correct path to ethics education, I think my work will be done.
Philosophy, religion and science in my view are much more connected then we realize! I have found that at the highest stage of the mind/brain development the quality of the character traits (as defined by religion, philosophy and science) of every person are all one and the same!!! Religion wants you to be altruistic, philosophy wants you to be wise/altruistic and science/education wants you to be emotionally super mature which is the same! So wisdom is the common thread in all of them. Thus we need philosophers, religious leaders and scientists/educationists all working together to create ethics education that transforms the brain to +2.

Purpose of Education

Education---like democracy, free markets, freedom of the press, and "universal human rights" --- is one of those subjects whose virtue is considered self-evident. So is the superiority of the industrially advanced countries in attaining them. Consequently, any package that arrives with one of these magic labels on it, automatically qualifies for the "green channel" at our entry ports. No questions asked. This uncritical acceptance has severely crippled our discussion of all these vital topics. For example in education most of our discussion centers around literacy statistics and the need to have so many graduates, masters, Phd's, and so many professionals --- engineers, doctors, etc.--- in a given country based on the standards in the industrially advanced countries. The central issue of curriculum, and even more fundamental issue of the purpose of education normally do not attract our attention; they have already been decided by the "advanced' countries for us and our job is only to follow in their footsteps to achieve their level of progress.
Indeed they have. In the "first" world, education has become an extension of the capitalist system. Its purpose is to provide qualified workforce for its machinery of production and eager consumers for its products. Stated in a more polished form, the purpose of education is to provide for the economic prosperity of a country. Similarly on a personal level today the purpose of education is to be able to earn a respectable living.
While earning halal living and providing for the economic well being of a country are certainly important Islamic goals as well, the linking of education to financial goals is extremely unfortunate. It turns the centers of learning into mere vocational centers in their outlook and spirit. It degrades education and through it the society.
To bring home the pivotal but forgotten role of education we need to recall that there is a fundamental difference between human beings and animals. Instincts and physical needs alone can bring ants, bees, or herds of beasts together to live in a perfectly functioning animal society. Human beings do not function that way. They are not constrained by nature to follow only those ways that are necessary for the harmonious operation of their society. If they are to form a viable, thriving society, they must chose to do so. What drives that choice is the sharing of common goals, beliefs, values and outlook on life. Without a common framework binding its members, a human society cannot continue to exist; it will disintegrate and be absorbed by other societies. Further, the society must ensure that the common ground will continue to hold from generation to generation. This is the real purpose of education. The education system of a society produces the citizens and leaders needed for the smooth operation of that society, now and into the future. Its state of health or sickness translates directly into the health or sickness of the society that it is meant to serve.
Today we find many internal problems --- corruption, injustice, oppression, crippling poverty --- everywhere we turn in the Muslim world. If we think about it, we may realize that most of these problems are man-made. Which is another way of saying that they are largely traceable, directly or indirectly, to the education system that produced the people who perpetuate the problems. The rulers who sell out to foreign powers and subjugate their people; the bureaucrats who enforce laws based on injustice; the generals who wage war against their own people; the businessmen who exploit and cheat; the journalists who lie, sensationalize, and promote indecencies, they are all educated people, in many cases "highly" educated people. Their education was meant to prepare them for the roles they are playing in real life. And it has, although in a very unexpected way!
The problem plagues all layers of society. Why are Muslim communities in the grip of so much materialism today? What should we expect when our entire education system is preaching the gospel of materialism? Why have we effectively relegated Islam to a small inconsequential quarter in our public life? Because that is precisely where our secular education system has put it. Why in our behavior toward each other we see so little display of Islamic manners and morals? Because our imported education system is devoid of all moral training. Why our societies are sick? Because our education system is sick.
This is the real crisis of education. Before we got into this mess by importing from the Colonial powers what was current and popular, education in our societies was always the means of nurturing the human being. Moral training, tarbiya, was always an inalienable part of it. The ustaz,(teacher), was not just a lecturer or mere professional, but a mentor and moral guide. We remembered the hadith then, "No father has given a greater gift to his children than good moral training." [Tirmidhi]. Our education system was informed by this hadith. Our darul-ulooms still maintain that tradition but the number of students who pass through their gates is minuscule compared to the secular schools.
In the U.S. and Europe, the schools were started by the church. Later as forces of capitalism overtook them, they molded them into their image. Moral training was a casualty of that takeover. But capitalism and their political economy did need people trained to work under these systems. So citizenship training was retained as an important, though diminishing, component of the curriculum--- a religion-free subset of the moral training it displaced. Whatever civility we see here is largely a result of that leftover component. The imported versions in the Muslim countries, though, had even that component filtered out. And the results are visible.
We can solve our problem once we realize our mistakes. The first purpose of our education system must be to produce qualified citizens and leaders for the Islamic society. Tarbiya, real Islamic moral training, must be an integral part of it. This must be the soul of our education, not a ceremonial husk. All plans for improving our education will be totally useless unless they are based on a full understanding of this key fact. This requires revamping our curricula, rewriting our textbooks, retraining our teachers, and realizing that we must do all this ourselves. We do have a rich history of doing it. Are we finally willing to turn to our own in-house treasures to redo education the way it should always have been?

Strategies to Help You Test Better on the ACT Science Test

You will have 40 questions in seven test units that you must answer in 35 minutes. The questions will evaluate your interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and problem-solving skills associated with science.
You will be reading about, and be tested on, Biology, Chemistry, Earth/Space Sciences, and Physics.
The ACT test does not measure your advanced knowledge about these subjects, but some knowledge of scientific terms or concepts is needed. It assumes you have had 2 years of science coursework in high school. It emphasizes the application of scientific reasoning skills instead of your ability to recall content or your skill in math and reading ability.
Scientific information in the test passages is presented in 3 different formats:
Data Representation: This format will require you to understand, evaluate, and interpret graphs, tables, charts, or diagrams
Research summaries: This format will require you to understand, evaluate, analyze, and interpret the design, execution, and results of experiments.
Conflicting Viewpoints: This format requires you to evaluate several alternative theories, hypotheses, or viewpoints on a specific observable phenomenon.
Problem Solving Methodology
- Restate the problem
- What information is needed?
- Find the needed information
- Supply additional scientific information (terms or concepts) as needed
ACT SCIENCE Test Strategies:
- Pace yourself. You have less a minute for each of the 40 questions.
- Read the text, graphs and tables carefully and understand what the question is asking.
- When thinking about the information on a graph, identify what is displayed and what unit(s)of measurement are used. Notice the captions or legends or any explanation offered. Look for trends in the data. Understand the influencing trends.
- Be able to identify axis labels, find information in keys, identify variables shown, determine relationships between variables (direct, inverse or other) interpolate data points, extrapolate a data trend, make hypotheses or predictions from the data, and translate data from one form into another.
- Gain an understanding of scientific processes if you don't have that already. Be prepared to identify assumptions, hypotheses, controls and variables, how experiments compare to each other, and the good and bad characteristics of experiments. Be prepared also to determine the possible effects of altering the experiments and to make predictions from the results of experiments.
- When working with conflicting viewpoints, you will have to interpret the viewpoints, theories, or hypotheses, and determine how the viewpoints compare, along with their good and bad characteristics. Be prepared to determine how the different viewpoints explain the same phenomenon.
The ACT test prep strategies were prepared based on a review of the ACT.org test prep materials.
